Histogram

====================
The Histogram function displays statistical information about your image and is useful in a variety of analysis functions (which are beyond the scope of this manual). When you invoke the function, you will be asked to select a buffer. Click on the desired buffer, use the cursor keys to move to the one you want and press {Enter}, or press one of the A, a, B, b, C, c keys.

JIMSAIP displays 512 "bins" from zero to a top value. When you select the buffer to be examined, you will be asked to input the desired top value with 65535 being the default (you can change it later). Either accept the default or enter a value.

JIMSAIP will display the histogram along with percentile information. The displayed data (especially the percentile information) is useful in setting the BLACK and WHITE levels for displaying the image in the Examine mode or the View mode. Setting the BLACK level at the 1 percentile level and the WHITE level at the 99th percentile level will usually show your images well.

The R key is a hot key that will allow you to rescale the graph. Simply press R and enter the new upper limit value and the graph will re-draw.

Press any other key to exit and return to the Main Menu.

The Histogram function can be accessed also with the H hot key in the Examine Image Mode.
