The Save command presents you with a directory box which will permit you to change the directory in which you will save the file, select a file name for overwriting, or input a new filename. Use the TAB key to move among the File Listing box, the Directory Listing box and the Name Entry box.
If you select (or enter) the name of an existing file, JIMSAIP will warn you that you are about to overwrite an existing file and require you to confirm your intention.
You can terminate the operation by clicking on the ESC button or pressing the {Esc} key.
When you click on the SAVE button or press {Enter}, you will be asked which buffer do you want to save. You can click on the appropriate button, use the ARROW keys to move to the selected buffer (press {Enter} afterwards), or press one of the A, a, B, b, C, c keys.
The Save operation not only saves the image data, a file header containing information about the image is also saved (following the FITS standard). This is a very good way for you to document your images for future reference. Some of this data is automatically generated by JIMSAIP (such as number of columns and rows) but the rest is up to you to input. You can do this in the View menu, View FITS Header sub-menu.
