Monte Alban

====================
Image of Monte Alban Monte Alban, located about 5 miles by road southwest of the city of Oaxaca, is the largest archeological site in Mexico and the second largest in Central America. It was founded about 250 B.C. on the top of a small mountain some 1,500 feet above the floor of the central valley. It was a planned city, designed by architects, as the top of the mountain was leveled and the city is laid out on a north-south axis. We have had the pleasure of visiting many times, including a few times at night. It is wonderful to ponder how the city would have looked in its prime.
